Twin Athletes reimagines collage as a three-dimensional process of assembly. Constructed from hand-built ceramic forms bound together with industrial cable ties, the sculpture brings together materials that traditionally do not belong together. The tension between fragile clay and utilitarian fasteners reflects the ways identity is shaped through repair, adaptation, and contradiction. Rather than presenting a unified figure, the work embraces fragmentation, suggesting that selfhood is formed through accumulated experiences, relationships, and cultural influences. The exposed ties do not conceal the act of joining; instead, they make the process of construction visible, emphasizing that identity is continually negotiated rather than complete. Through this sculptural collage, disparate elements become interdependent, inviting viewers to consider how vulnerability, resilience, and connection coexist within the self.
